
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Arctic League is non-profit organization that tries to make sure all kids in Chemung County have gifts to open for Christmas. On Dec. 7, it had a live telethon in the Clemens Center and raised $39,600.
Sentimental tree to shine at Arctic League annual broadcast
The Arctic League has been serving Chemung County for more than 100 years. Every year, the non-profits volunteers help clients with applications, they help pack up gifts and help deliver the gifts on Christmas Eve.
“You just feel like you’re helping out humanity and then on top of that you’re bringing so much joy to the kids when they wake up and being able to make the community a happier place is just a wonderful gift,” said Charlie Burke, the Vice President of Swift Glass Company.
The live telethon was broadcasted on 18 news from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the live telethon, there were music performances, live donation reads, and even organizations donating on live tv.
